How the 2022 Mazda CX-5 differs from the 2021 Mazda CX-5

Mazda extensively modified its popular CX-5 compact SUV for the 2022 model year by giving it up to date styling and sought-after features as standard.

Standard features you want

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 adds many new features and it makes some of the most popular ones part of the standard equipment in order to make them available to all buyers without extra cost. For example, the i-Activ all-wheel drive system is now installed in every CX-5 model. This system works by sensing any wheel slippage and instantly closing a center coupling to split power between the two axles. This provides better stability for driving on slippery surfaces, but it is also beneficial to the driving dynamics on dry pavement. In addition, Mazda’s drive mode selection system is also standard, so you can choose the mode that best suits your driving style in general or at any given moment, whether you prefer a more relaxed drive or a spirited run down a backroad.

A new style to stay fresh

The 2022 Mazda CX-5 shows an exterior appearance that was modernised and made more elegant. This helps it look more like the other recent Mazda models, such as the CX-30 and it gives the CX-5 a more premium appearance that rivals other vehicles that cost much more. The front end features a revised grille and headlamps, while the rear displays new taillamps. New wheels and other smaller design touches complete the look of the new CX-5 from the outside, but the inside was not forgotten. Indeed, the seats have been replaced by new units of a different design that is more comfortable and the dashboard shows many changes that contribute again to create a premium atmosphere, notably the revised instrument cluster and the new center touch screen that is sat on top of the dashboard. The GT Reserve model was also replaced by the 2.5 Turbo trim as the range topper for 2022.
