What Makes the New 2024 Mazda CX-90 Stand Out?

Mazda has been moving its vehicles upmarket in recent years and the all-new 2024 CX-90 that was unveiled last week is the latest product to continue this trend by featuring a refined design and technical solutions that are seen in vehicles costing thousands more.
The luxurious and refined cabin
The 2024 Mazda CX-90 can be equipped with a large number of features and characteristics that make its interior just as luxurious as models from premium brands that sell for thousands more than the $45,900 starting price of the GS version. Among these features are the driver assistance technologies part of the standard i-Activsense package such as Smart Brake Support, adaptive cruise control, the new See-Trough View monitor and blind spot monitoring. The cabin is also up to the level of premium competitors due to its materials such as Nappa leather and wood accents. A detail that differentiates the CX-90 is its use of stitched fabric to provide a contrast of textures on the instrument and the door panels.
Two powerful and efficient powertrains
Like many performance SUVs in the premium segment, the new 2024 Mazda CX-90 is powered by a standard longitudinally-mounted 3.3L turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine that is entirely new. This engine is paired with a small electric motor and a new 8-speed automatic transmission that directs up to 340 horsepower to all four wheels via an AWD system that features a rear bias. This helps improve the CX-90’s handling characteristics by sending more power to the rear wheels during spirited driving while still providing the safety and stability of all-wheel drive on slippery roads. The other powertrain available in the CX-90 is even more advanced since it combines a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 17.8 kWh battery to provide the SUV with 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain also makes it possible to drive the CX-90 using only electricity on most driver’s daily commutes (the official range has yet to be announced).
