2021 Mazda CX-5 vs. 2021 Toyota RAV4: The CX-5 Offers Value and Performance

The 2021 CX-5 brings together style, connectivity, and technology in a fun-to-drive SUV. This compact, five-seat vehicle offers two powertrains that open a new world for driving enthusiasts. The CX-5 also adds technologies that read the road and help the CX-5 respond in ways that other vehicles can't. The innovations also transfer into layers of safety that give you a peace of mind at every moment.

To help you with your purchasing decision, we compare the CX-5 to a known competitor, the 2021 Toyota RAV4.

The 2021 Mazda CX-5 offers spirited performance at a better price

The CX-5 offers two powertrains that satisfy a range of performance tastes. Powering four models, a 2.5-litre four-cylinder produces 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. A turbocharged 2.5-litre engine is standard in two more CX-5 models and available with another, and it delivers. Drivers enjoy up to 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque, which is more than any standard petrol or hybrid RAV4 can deliver. That is, unless you want to pay much more for a difficult-to-find RAV4 Prime.

These powertrains can be paired with Mazda’s i-ACTIV AWD system which reads the road and provides superior driving dynamics that cannot be experienced with the RAV4.

The 2021 Mazda CX-5 features a refined interior and an unlimited mileage warranty

For maximum peace of mind, Mazda Unlimited features no mileage limits for the 3-year New Vehicle, 3-year Roadside Assistance, 5-year Powertrain and 7-year Anti-Perforation warranties.

The RAV4 puts a 60,000 km limit on their 3-year Basic and 100,000 km limit Powertrain warranties. This coverage provides less freedom to explore.

Since the CX-5 encourages you to explore in more ways than one, don't forget about its comfortable interior and refined interior. Your family and friends have more legroom in the rear seats compared to the RAV4, and standard Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, internet radio functionality, Bluetooth (and more) help create the ultimate road trip environment.

But beyond that, the Mazda CX-5’s interior is also centered on the driver, surrounded with high-end materials and textures that one would typically find in a luxury compact SUV. The RAV4, on the other hand, uses budget-oriented plastics and textures.
